It’s the time of year when your inbox is never fuller, bursting with ads reminding you how many shopping days remain. So amid this flurry, let’s pause for a second to think about the wrapping, light, gifts and warmth that give meaning to this season.
It’s easy to get wrapped up in our little corner of the world, but there is so much buzzing on around us to be thankful for as well. The world we live in is growing at an amazing rate. Cooperation between diverse nations continues to open up global markets that would have been inconceivable even a generation ago. And everywhere we go in central Pennsylvania, Your Language Connection linguists find signs of this region’s connections to the world around us.
So, by shedding some light on those ties, we remember the bright future of our partnership to provide language services to our community. Being able to help someone bridge the communication gap is like light illuminating a misunderstanding. In the brightness of the light of understanding, we can say “I see!” We can see communication being facilitated, bridges being built, and cooperation among our neighbors.
We see what a gift it has been to us to be able to share our language talents with the community around us, and what new surprises await around the corner for us in 2026. Maybe that will be the year your workplace partners with us to train your employees, or the year we help you roll out bilingual dubbed or subtitled training videos, or the year you contract with us to provide in-person, telephonic or virtual interpretation services to help communication flourish in your business.
At Your Language Connection, we not only believe in language’s ability to empower communities, we believe in the triumph of the human spirit. The spirit that bonds us together over shared understanding is something that will always push us forward into new and exciting adventures here at YLC, and it’s in that spirit that we’d like to wish you a Happy Holiday season, with all the best for the New Year!

Linguist Highlight – Verle
Verle began his interpreting journey when someone overheard him speaking fluent Swahili and encouraged him to connect with YLC. Since then, he has supported individuals and families navigating life in a new culture, helping them communicate with confidence and understanding.
One moment that stands out in his work was assisting a student struggling with behavior challenges at school. By sitting with him weekly, speaking to him in Swahili, and encouraging positive classroom habits, Verle helped him gain confidence and the school noticed a significant improvement.
Outside of interpreting, Verle volunteers at The Hub in Lancaster, welcoming individuals from all over the world, helping with ESL class registration, and supporting community programs that bring people together.
Verle’s work reflects patience, cultural understanding, and a deep belief in supporting others through transition. We are honored to recognize him as part of the YLC community.
