As 2025 comes to a close, Your Language Connection (YLC) celebrates a year filled with connection, impact, and heartfelt gratitude. This year marked 25 years of empowering communities through language, and what a milestone it’s been! From our anniversary celebration to the daily work of our interpreters and translators, every moment reflected our mission: building bridges between schools, families, and communities across Pennsylvania. In 2025, YLC: • Supported hundreds of IEPs, school meetings, and family conferences, ensuring all parents could understand and participate fully. • Delivered accurate, human translation for educational materials, handbooks, and safety policies. • Expanded professional development for interpreters, reinforcing the quality and consistency that our clients trust. • Strengthened partnerships with schools and local organisations to promote equity through communication. To celebrate our 25th Anniversary, we also launched our “Spreading the Love, Multiplying Our Impact” campaign — donating five percent of our April invoices to five Lancaster-based non-profit organisations: Church World Service, Lancaster Education Foundation, Lancaster County Community Foundation, United Way of Lancaster County, and United Disabilities Service Foundation. This initiative was our way of giving back to the community that has trusted us for decades, ensuring that our impact multiplies far beyond the conversations we interpret. As Michelle Salinas shared during our celebration:“Every conversation we interpret, whether at a school, a clinic, or a community event, is an opportunity to bring people together. That’s what 25 years of YLC is all about.”From all of us at YLC, thank you for making this a year of growth, gratitude, and giving. Here’s to continuing our mission in 2026, one connection at a time.

Linguist Highlight – Reem

For Reem , interpreting in Arabic is about more than translating words, it’s about helping people truly understand one another. “I love my clients,” Reem says, and this genuine care is felt in every interaction she has.

Reem supports community organizations such as ICCL and Blessings of Hope, where she is known for her patience, kindness, and ability to make people feel safe and respected. She focuses on ensuring both parties feel heard, supported, and comfortable, especially during moments that can be emotional or overwhelming.

Outside of interpreting, Reem enjoys volunteering and supporting families in meaningful and practical ways. She also runs a small furniture resale page: Marmar Remo, sharing beautiful and affordable pieces with her community.

At YLC, we are grateful for Reem’s compassion and steady presence. She reminds us that interpreting is not only communication,  it is connection.
