As the season of gratitude arrives, Your Language Connection is taking a moment to reflect on what truly matters, the people, partnerships, and purpose behind everything we do.This year, we’ve had the privilege of helping families understand, students succeed, and communities connect through language. Each request whether in a school, clinic, courtroom, or community center, has reminded us how powerful understanding can be.
We’re thankful for:
• Our interpreters and translators, who show professionalism and compassion in every interaction.
• Our clients and partners, who trust us to bridge the gap and ensure every voice is heard.
• Our community, whose stories inspire us to continue growing and improving.Whether it’s helping a parent understand a teacher’s feedback or guiding a patient through an appointment, every word we interpret opens a door.
It’s a reminder that communication heals, empowers, and connects us all. This November, we celebrate a simple truth: language connects us, and connection builds community.

Linguist Highlight: Antoinette Mutombo
For Antoinette Mutombo, interpreting in Lingala, Swahili, and French is more than a profession, it’s a way to make a difference. “I love assisting others who face language barriers,” she shares. “My everyday goal is to show I care and make people feel understood.”
A Passion for Service
Antoinette’s compassion shines both in and out of her interpreting work. She volunteers to teach reading and Bible lessons, mentor high school students through the Chamber of Commerce, and help seniors understand Medicare options. Her kindness and patience make her a trusted voice in every community she serves.
A True Connector
“I love making people I work with feel comfortable so they consider me part of the team,” she says, a reflection of her genuine empathy and professionalism.
At YLC, we’re proud to celebrate Antoinette for her dedication, heart, and service. She reminds us that interpreting is not just about words, it’s about connection and care.
